Arrival by plane:

There are two airports in Berlin:

Berlin-Tegel in the Northeast (most frequently used)

Berlin-Schönefeld in the Southeast

Arrival at aiport Berlin-Tegel:

By public transport:

Follow the signs to the bus station, take the bus line X9 or alternatively 109. Most convenient is to buy a day ticket which allows you unlimited travel using bus, underground, city train (S Bahn) and tram until early next morning. The ticket can be bought on the bus, please consider to have a small note with you (e. g. 5,- or 10,- Euro, bus drivers do not accept 50,- or 100,- Euro notes). The ticket needs to be validated by using the red box behind the driver, if you do not do this, you have to pay a penalty. Go to the bus station “Jacob-Kaiser-Platz” (first stop with X9, second stop with 109), leave the bus and take the underground line U7 in direction to "Rudow".

After approx. 15 minutes change the train at station “Yorckstraße” and take the city train (S Bahn) into direction south. There are two options:

  1. Take the city train S2 into direction "S Lichtenrade", leave at S station "Attilastraße" and follow the map, or
  2. Take the city train lines S25 into direction "S Lichterfelde-Süd" or “S Teltow Stadt”, leave at city train station "Südende" and follow the map.

The journey will take you approx. 30 minutes and 8 minutes walk to the department.

Alternatively by taxi:

This will take approx. 30-40 minutes (15 km) and will cost approx. 25,- Euro. In general many taxis are available at the airport, catching a taxi is no problem at Tegel.

In case you take a taxi, please inform the driver that Kelchstraße 31 is located in Steglitz going off the Steglitzer Damm nearby S city train station "Attilastraße". Kelchstraße is a very small cul-de-sac unknown to most taxi drivers.

Arrival at airport Berlin-Schönefeld:

By public transport:

Take the airport shuttle bus to the city train station "Flughafen Schönefeld". You need to buy a ticket from the ticket machine. We recommend to buy a day ticket which allows you unlimited travel using bus, underground, city train (S Bahn) and tram until early next morning. Buying the ticket is very simple, just press the button “Tagesticket A/B”. The machines accept coins and also notes. They only accept small notes, i. e. 5,- and 10,- Euro notes. Higher notes are not accepted because the change given by the machine after purchase of the ticket is limited to a maximum of 10,- Euro! After purchase of the ticket you need to validate it using the small red boxes at the entrance to the platform. Take the city train (S Bahn) S 45 into direction “S+U Gesundbrunnen” and change at city train station “Südkreuz”. Take one of the city trains (S Bahn) going into direction south. Basically you have two options:

40 minutes and approx. 8 minutes walk to the department.
